The day started full of excitement, the top of the Camino was waiting for us. We did a thorough analysis on which way to go to reach the summit and we took the decision to walk with the stroller along the highway until reaching the top as long as there is no fog. We bought some reflective vests and tied them to our backpacks, just to make sure the cars can see us on the road.The first thing we did when waking up was being happy about the weather and when leaving Pola de Allande we took the Camino until the intersection with the highway and then we took again the Camino when going down.
We did a longer walk but the effort was less than getting the stroller through the woods and the rocky road, we had to sacrifice some of the peaceful feeling but the highway was a secondary one with almost no traffic so no complaints.At 8h00 we reached Puerto de Palo 1145 meters high, having started at 550, it was quite an accomplishment.
Arriving the weather got worse but the moment when we started going down the Camino, all the fog went away and gave us as a gift the view from the top!
Downhill was very steep and full of rocks so I took Emilia in my arms for 2 kilometers and my husband dealt with the empty stroller on the way down; we didn't want to break the stroller.Getting to Montefurado was not so difficult and the views were so motivating that until Lago we were as good as new. We had breakfast in Lago.
Reaching Berducedo was not so hard and we were there at around 13h30. We had a reservation at the Hotel Las Grandas but we had decided early that we would stop in Berducedo because the downhill after La Mesa would kill our knees having to carry the stroller after the previous 22 kilometers. We still think it was a good idea to ask for a Taxi, if we would plan it again we would have slept in Berducedo and then walked until Castro on the next day. But since the money for the hotel was not reimbursable and getting a Taxi was almost impossible at 6 am, we are happy we did it like that.

Hotel Las Grandas - wonderful hotel, very good service, it depends on how you plan the phases but if the next is A Fonsagrada maybe not the best choice since it is at the begining of a very long uphill that adds many kilometers to the next phase, on the Camino
Next Stop A Fonsagrada....
